Don James, Jr., Founder and CEO

Don James Jr. is the founder and CEO of Rugby Partners Inc., a global sports events, hospitality and media company with a primary focus on bringing together the rugby and business communities in high quality entertainment and networking environments. James is also CEO of James Properties, Land and Cattle LLC, a multifaceted real estate development and management firm.

In 2004, James founded BEAR Data Solutions Inc, an international cloud enabled IT services provider which grew from one office to over 100 employees, over $150 million in revenue and 12 offices in five countries in 10 years.  BEAR Data garnered many awards and was selected to the Inc. Magazine Fastest Growing Companies 500/5000 list for three years in a row prior to being sold to Datalink Corporation in fall of 2014.

A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, James played both football and rugby for the Cal Bears and was selected in 2010 to the University of California Athletic Hall of Fame in honor of his achievements.   A four-time All American, he helped the Cal Rugby Team, playing tighthead prop, to win four national championships and the Old Blues to win three national club championships.  James also served as a member of the U.S. National Team from 1987 – 1994 earning fifteen international caps with the US Squad.

James is one of a small number of Cal Alumni to earn a “Blue” playing rugby at Oxford University in 1989.  He  also played with Old Belvedere in Dublin, Ireland and the Harlequins in London England.  James serves on the Cal Rugby Advisory Board of Directors and is also a Director of the U.S. Rugby Foundation.
